About Iannis ...
Iannis is a 16-year-old Romanian student whose aspirations will one day bring him far. He currently attends Sixth form when he is studying Maths, Politics and Economics. Outside of school, he is a member of the B.A.D (Barking and Dagenham) Youth Forum, the Centre for Population Health Youth Voice Ambassador, the Young Mayor of Barking and Dagenham and one of the London Youth Assembly representatives for Barking and Dagenham. He has also led and contributed towards events such as Youth Work Week and the Safety Summit for Voluntary, Community and Faith Sectors group, which were both massive successes.
At first, Iannis did not know what he wanted to do with his future, had zero clue, until one day he and his partner were assaulted by a group of boys for no reason other than anti-social behaviour. Iannis de-escalated the situation and came out almost unharmed, but he noticed another group of boys, young children, watching what had happened. That did not sit right with Iannis; the kids should not have to witness that; they should not have to feel scared that someone else will do the same to them. That was the moment he discovered what he wants to do with his future: he wants to help make a change, a change to make sure that the youth won’t have to think twice before walking down an alleyway, a change that will help the youth reach their maximum potential, a change that will ensure our future leaders have a future.
His events and ideas have always been to try and help young people, Youth Work Week stood for his ideals best. An event that brought all youth forums available in Barking and Dagenham in one spot, completely free to all young people to find a place where they can fully express themselves. There was a total of 200 young people at the event and 120 of them joined one of the youth forums at the event.
As Young Mayor of Barking and Dagenham, Iannis’ ambitions only grew and has been trying to raise as much money for charity as possible, so far, he has done his best to build a foundation to raise this money by being announced as Young Mayor by KSI.
So far, he has used his confidence to put himself out there and reach out to people to create relationships that will help him throughout his journey to fulfilling his goal. Iannis is a lovely boy with an ambitious mind and a sense of charisma that is bound to make you smile. We are delighted that he has joined our team for this year.
